Below are a list of workshops and conferences I have attended over the years.
A two-day intensive workshop. The first day begins with an Artist Talk from a local documentary filmmaker, and an introductory workshop on the basics of documentary filmmaking. The second day will consist of a group exercise, in which participants will work together to create a 1-2 minute documentary film. Afterwards, anyone who attended the workshop and would like to make their own film will be invited to put together a proposal for a short documentary. Nina is working on their short documentary, which will premiere in Fall 2024.
Participants join Autumn in exploring how to cultivate mutual resilience so that we can more effectively resist the ideology of racial capitalism and racial practice, and Autumn will offer a set of practices for moving in formation and sustaining human connection as we navigate a time of rapid change.
Passing stories down orally from generation to generation is a foundational cultural practice for people around the world. Today, writers capture, adapt, and document spoken stories in many ways. Join author Waubgeshig Rice as he discusses how the oral stories of his Anishinaabe heritage influence his writing, and how he writes them in fiction. He’ll share tips on adapting oral traditions to written forms, with a focus on dialogue and character development.
Printed words are static on the page, yet poets — enamoured by the metamorphic properties of life — are always trying to find ways to get their work to embody changefulness. In this workshop we’ll look at some examples of words that change, and try our hand at creating linguistic structures that both describe and embody transformation.
Artist and writer Fariha Róisín will guide and ground us through somatics, self-inquiry, and writing practices to help unearth deep, creative portals within. Participants will experience exclusive insights from Róisín that she has gathered from her own work —rooted in poetry, esoteric studies, and healing from trauma—that are designed to support the emergent, healing self.
Artist Morris Fox welcomes participants to consider the feelings and memories that are attached to objects in our lives in a workshop that invites the excitement of a show-n-tell with an artist talk, to engage with the lyrical potential of objects. ox asks, can we think and feel deeper about objects, souvenirs and heirlooms, both every day and precious? How can we navigate space through feeling?
Adobe MAX is the leading global creativity conference, a uniquely immersive and engaging digital experience. While attending this virtual conference, Nina took over the VERB Interactive Instagram feed, under the identity of VERB to the MAX. Nina kept VERB followers in the loop on the latest trends, tips, tricks, and takeaways from the more than 400 global experts.
Digital Summit NYC connects you with hundreds of marketing professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry heavyweights — for two days of digital marketing tactics, strategies, and insights.
